about me
Ebonie Marie is a South Central Los Angeles native, actor, award winning poet, songwriter, and teaching artist who believes in storytelling as a vehicle for liberation. Known for her smile, captivating energy, ability to move seamlessly through genres, and creative activism, she brings depth and relatability to every space she enters.
Her poetry is biting and deeply personal, centering themes of womanhood, grief, love, mental wellness, and spiritual reclamation. As a songwriter, her work has been featured in TV/Film, and national commercials.
As an actor, Ebonie recently debuted her 60 minute solo show, do we look FINE, as the capstone for her master’s thesis in Acting. The multi-media piece fuses poetry, music, and well researched vignettes, anchored by a 30 page dissertation delivered through a pre-recorded, sharp-witted narrator. The piece holds both heartbreak and hope, offering a bold confrontation of the systemic barriers Black artists face in higher education Fine Arts programs across the country.
Ebonie holds both an M.A. and B.A. in Dramatic Arts with a focus in Acting and travels nationally performing and facilitating reflective journaling, acting, songwriting, and public speaking workshops rooted in art as resistance. A three time study abroad scholar, credentialed educator, and proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, she values holistic wellness and the preservation of art as resistance.
She has also leveraged her magnetic stage presence, and stand-up comedy experience, working as a host, panel moderator, and content creator for brands and media outlets such as ASACP, BET, My Black Is Beautiful, Sprite, SneakerCon, and Stevie Wonder’s Radio Free KJLH. She is also the creative force behind the social media comedy series I’m Just Here For The Comments.
Whether curating safe spaces or bringing characters to life on screen or stage, Ebonie is committed to creating work that blends performance, message, and a call to action, resulting in art that uplifts, challenges, and inspires change.
